Ian Update 56: Additional resources at the Disaster Recovery Center
The Disaster Recover Center (DRC) has resources and assistance programs in addition to FEMA. Representatives from each agency below are available to speak to residents at the DRC.
Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF)
Residents who suffered a loss of food due to Hurricane Ian and were receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits at the time of the storm may apply to have additional funds added to their account to replenish lost foods. DCF will also conduct on-site intake for residents needing to apply for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Medicaid and SNAP.
Legal Services of Mid-Florida (LSMF)
Representatives from LSMF are available to provide information about the various types of legal services their agency offers. Legal services may include housing, landlord and tenant disputes, family law, public benefits, children’s rights and special education, elderly, medical/legal partnership, and veterans. While an attorney is not present at the DRC, residents may call their legal helpline at 800-405-1417.
SMA Healthcare (SMA)
SMA offers a 24/7 helpline available to anyone needing mental health guidance. This includes persons who have suffered a traumatic episode brought on by Hurricane Ian. To speak to a representative from SMA, call 800-539-4228. This service is available to adults, adolescents and children at no cost.
CareerSource
A mobile career center is available in the DRC’s parking lot. Representatives will assist residents with disaster unemployment assistance applications and employment searches. The mobile career center will be on-site today and tomorrow and then travel to other locations in Volusia County. Volusia County Community Assistance
For residents who have exhausted options through FEMA, funding is available to assist with insurance deductibles and depreciation allowance calculations as determined by their insurance company. Additionally, assistance is available for repairs required to make the residency habitable and to avoid further damage. The assistance is available to residents living in Volusia County except those within the city limits of Daytona Beach or Deltona. Eligibility is dependent upon meeting income requirements. Small Business Administration (SBA)
Individual residents, businesses and nonprofit organizations may apply for low-interest, long-term loans through SBA. Loans may be provided to homeowners or renters to repair or replace disaster-damaged real estate and personal property, including automobiles. The DRC is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week at the Florida Department of Health-Volusia, 1845 Holsonback Drive, Daytona Beach.
