Andrew Kiplagat has been recognized as the SWAC Co-Track Athlete of the Week after his record-setting performance in Gainesville, according to an announcement made Wednesday by the Southwestern Athletic Conference from Birmingham, Alabama.

This marks Kiplagat’s second weekly honor of the season and is the sixth such award for the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats men’s track and field team this year. Kiplagat established a new program record in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:24.25. Earlier in January, he was also named SWAC Track Athlete of the Week after setting a program record and finishing first in the 3,000-meter event.

Bethune-Cookman is scheduled to compete again on Friday in Gainesville at the Visit Tallahassee Indoor Invitational.

“Andrew Kiplagat continues to set the bar high as he set another program record this weekend. The new time to beat is 14:24.25 in the 5K. Earlier in January, he was named SWAC Track-Athlete of the Week after setting yet another program record and securing 1st place in the 3000m,” stated officials from Bethune-Cookman.
