The 2022 Stetson Beach Volleyball team was highly successful on the court, bringing home another ASUN title and making an appearance in the NCAA Championship, but the Hatters were also successful in the classroom.

The Hatters earned recognition from the American Volleyball Coaches Association with the United States Marine Corps Team Academic Award for the 10th time in program history and for the fifth consecutive year.

The award is presented annually to volleyball teams at all levels who maintain a year-long grade point average of 3.3 or better on a 4.0 scale.

“Academic achievement does not happen by accident,” AVCA Executive Directory Kathy DeBoer said. “I am so proud of the hundreds of coaching staffs that make excellence in the classroom a priority.”

Stetson’s beach volleyball teams posted a cumulative GPA of 3.61 for the spring 2022 academic year.

“We are so proud of our team for being so successful, not only athletically but also academically,” Hatters’ beach volleyball coach Kristina Hernandez said. “They excelled both on and off the court this year and this recognition is just another reflection of their work ethic and commitment to being great student-athletes.”
