Bethune-Cookman University has announced the addition of two assistant coaches to its men’s and women’s track and field staff for the upcoming season. Clive Terrelonge and Nadia Alexander-Pompey, both former track athletes with extensive experience in coaching and competition, will join the Wildcats program. Terrelonge will oversee multi- and short hurdles events, while Alexander-Pompey will coach throws.

Clive Terrelonge represented Jamaica at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and again at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. He won a gold medal in the 800 meters at the 1995 World Indoor Championship and was inducted into the NCAA Division III Track and Field Hall of Fame for his achievements at Lincoln University. Terrelonge earned a Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education from Lincoln in 1994.

His coaching career includes roles at Fayetteville State, Brown University, and a 14-year tenure at UConn. During his time with UConn, he contributed to multiple Big East and ECAC championships as well as indoor conference titles in 2014–15 and 2015–16. Under his guidance, UConn sprinters and hurdlers achieved NCAA All-American honors, broke school records, and excelled within their conference. He coached athletes such as Trisha-Ann Hawthorne—UConn’s most decorated sprinter—and Phylicia George, who later competed for Canada at the 2012 Olympic Games. Terrelonge received five USTFCCCA Northeast Region Coach of the Year awards for his work developing successful sprint/hurdle groups.

Nadia Alexander-Pompey brings her own record of success as an athlete and coach. At Louisiana Tech from 2005 to 2009, she won three WAC indoor shot put titles and two outdoor championships while helping her team secure nine conference titles. She continues to hold school records in both indoor and outdoor shot put events.

Alexander-Pompey holds a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech as well as a master’s degree in sport management from Virginia State University. In 2022, she became head coach of men’s and women’s track & field along with cross country programs at Lindenwood University. Her leadership produced notable results including an OVC Cross Country Female Freshman of the Year awardee, ten conference medalists, and a new school record in the 400 meters.

Her previous coaching positions include stops at Louisiana Tech, Florida A&M, Mississippi Valley State, Shaw University, Lincoln University, and Virginia State. Across these roles, her athletes have earned NCAA All-American status, USTFCCCA academic honors, multiple conference titles, qualification for NCAA competitions, and helped set several school records.
