Bethune-Cookman University’s men’s basketball team secured a decisive 85-48 victory over Jackson State at Moore Gymnasium in Daytona Beach, Florida. The win marks the Wildcats’ third consecutive triumph and places them at the top of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) standings with a 5-1 record.
During the opening minutes, Bethune-Cookman fell behind 7-2 but quickly recovered with a six-point run to take control of the game. By halftime, the Wildcats had established a commanding lead by holding Jackson State to just 28.1% shooting and forcing seven turnovers. In contrast, Bethune-Cookman shot 45.7%, made five three-pointers, and committed only three turnovers.
Doctor Bradley led the Wildcats with a season-high 22 points, including 14 points and four rebounds in the first half. “Doctor Bradley recorded a season-high 22 points to lead the Wildcats,” according to the team’s statement.
Five players from Bethune-Cookman scored in double figures: Bradley, J. Morris, Q. Heady, Johnson, and Rouzan. Dhaeshun Ruffin led Jackson State with 19 points.
The Wildcats maintained their dominance in the second half by limiting Jackson State’s shooting percentage to under 30% again and outrebounding them 29-17 during that period. Over the entire game, Bethune-Cookman outperformed Jackson State on rebounds by a margin of 55-36.
The win represents Bethune-Cookman’s largest margin of victory against a Division I opponent this season.
Bethune-Cookman will aim for its fourth straight win when it faces Alcorn State on Monday at Moore Gymnasium in Daytona Beach, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
