Bethune-Cookman men’s basketball earns sixth straight win over Alabama A&M

Bethune-Cookman secured its sixth consecutive win with an 80-62 victory over Alabama A&M at the AAMU Event Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Five Wildcats scored in double figures during the game.

The Wildcats, now 11-11 overall and 8-1 in conference play, started slowly and had only five points before the first media timeout. Afterward, they found their rhythm on both offense and defense, outscoring Alabama A&M 16-1 following the break. The team built a lead as large as 23 points in the first half while holding the Bulldogs to just five points in the opening eight minutes.

Alabama A&M (12-10, 5-4) managed to reduce the deficit by outscoring Bethune-Cookman 23-10 over the final eight minutes of the first half. At halftime, Bethune-Cookman led by ten points.

Bethune-Cookman shot 53.6% from the field in the first half compared to Alabama A&M’s 30.8%. Arterio Morris led B-CU with 14 points and three three-pointers before halftime, while Jakobi Heady added 11 points. Koron Davis was Alabama A&M’s top scorer at halftime with 11 points.

In the second half, Alabama A&M cut Bethune-Cookman’s lead to eight before B-CU responded with a decisive 12-0 run that pushed their advantage back to twenty points. The Wildcats maintained control for the remainder of the game.

Defensively, Bethune-Cookman limited Alabama A&M to just 32.8% shooting for the game. Doctor Bradley contributed all of his offensive output after halftime and finished with a double-double—15 points and ten rebounds—his third of this season.

Jakobi Heady led all B-CU scorers with 19 points on seven-of-nine shooting from the field. Arterio Morris finished with sixteen points including four-of-six from beyond the arc. Daniel Rouzan and Quentin Heady each added eleven for Bethune-Cookman.

Koron Davis posted a season-high twenty-two points for Alabama A&M.

Both teams recorded forty rebounds and twelve turnovers each during the contest. Bethune-Cookman shot an efficient 52.7% from three-point range.

Bethune-Cookman will return home for a two-game homestand beginning against Prairie View A&M on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
