The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats men’s basketball team is set to travel to Alabama this week, aiming to extend their current four-game winning streak with matchups against Alabama State and Alabama A&M.

Bethune-Cookman, holding a 9-11 overall record and a 6-1 mark in conference play, will first face Alabama State (6-14, 3-4 SWAC) on Saturday, January 31 at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome in Montgomery. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. EST and will be available via the Hornets Sports Network.

Their next game is against Alabama A&M (11-9, 4-3 SWAC) on Monday, February 2 at the AAMU Event Center in Huntsville. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on SWAC TV.

In their most recent outing, Bethune-Cookman secured a win over Alcorn State after building a strong lead in the first half. Daniel Rouzan led all scorers with 17 points in the opening period as the Wildcats shot over 63% from the field. Despite struggling from three-point range in the second half, B-CU managed to hold off Alcorn’s comeback attempt by converting crucial free throws late in the game.

Alabama State enters Saturday’s contest following a significant loss at Texas Southern and holds a home conference record of 1-2. Senior guard Asjon Anderson leads their scoring efforts but was held scoreless in his last appearance. The Hornets are recognized for their offensive rebounding prowess, leading the SWAC with an average of 12.5 per game.

Alabama A&M stands out as the only SWAC team with an overall winning record this season and recently defeated Prairie View A&M by a margin of 20 points on the road. Kintavious Dozier leads Alabama A&M with nearly 16 points per game and posted a season-high performance earlier this month. Defensively, they top the conference in points allowed per game and field goal percentage defense while also ranking highly in rebounding statistics.

Historically, Bethune-Cookman’s series against Alabama State is tied at 20 wins each; however, B-CU has won six straight meetings against them. Against Alabama A&M, Bethune-Cookman leads all-time with an 18-9 record and has won their last three encounters.
