Bethune-Cookman’s Darnell Deas has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Specialist of the Week after a dymanic day on all sides of the ball Saturday at Grambling State, the conference announced Monday.

Deas made an impact during Bethune-Cookman’s 36-19 win over Grambling State finding the end zone twice during the contest. He scored midway through the first quarter on an explosive 97-yard kick return to put the Wildcats up 14-7. Deas capped off the B-CU victory with an interception return for a score with under a minute to play in the contest. He totaled 127 return yards during the game.

Prior to the season, Deas was named to the All-SWAC second team as a specialist. This is the first weekly honor of his career.
