Governor Ron DeSantis has made several appointments to the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Information Systems Council. The newly appointed members are Donald Edenfield, Ed Hudak, Mike Prendergast, and Carolyn Timmann, while Charles Broadway has been reappointed.
Donald Edenfield, the Jackson County Sheriff, is an Adjunct Instructor at Chipola College, Florida Panhandle Technical College, and the Florida Public Safety Institute. He holds an associate degree from Chipola College, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Troy University, and a master’s degree in criminal justice and public administration from the University of West Florida.
Ed Hudak, Chief of Police for the Coral Gables Police Department, has been appointed as well. He also serves as the District 4 Director of the Florida Police Chiefs Association and is a mentor and security advisor for the University of Miami Athletic Department. Hudak earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Miami.
Mike Prendergast, Citrus County Sheriff and a veteran of the United States Army, has been appointed to the council. Prendergast retired from the army with the rank of Colonel and previously served as the Executive Director of the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs. He holds multiple bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science, interdisciplinary studies, social science, international relations, public management, and public diplomacy.
Carolyn Timmann, the Martin County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, is also among the newly appointed members. She is a former President of the Florida Court Clerks and Comptrollers Association and was honored with the President’s Award from the Florida Sheriff’s Association in 2018. Timmann obtained her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University.
Additionally, Charles Broadway has been reappointed to the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Information Systems Council. Broadway is the Chief of Police for the Clermont Police Department and a former Special Agent Supervisor for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. He has also served as the President of the West Central Florida Police Chief’s Association. Broadway holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from St. John’s University.
These appointments by Governor DeSantis are expected to contribute to the effective functioning of the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Information Systems Council, which plays a crucial role in the criminal justice system of Florida.
