TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Governor Ron DeSantis has announced two new judicial appointments in the state of Florida. These appointments include James Sherman, who will serve as a Judge on the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Court, and Mark Herr, who will serve as a Judge on the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Court.

Sherman, a resident of West Palm Beach, has an impressive legal background. He has been serving as a County Court Judge for Palm Beach County since 2022 and previously worked as a Senior Attorney at the South Florida Water Management District. Sherman is a distinguished alumnus of Florida State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, and the University of Miami, where he received his juris doctor.

Sherman’s appointment comes as a result of the retirement of Judge Laura Johnson, creating a vacancy that needed to be filled. Governor DeSantis recognized Sherman’s dedication and experience, stating, “I am confident that Judge Sherman’s extensive legal knowledge and commitment to justice will make him an outstanding addition to the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Court.”

The second appointment made by Governor DeSantis is Mark Herr, who will serve as a Judge on the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Court. Herr has an extensive legal career, having served as a County Court Judge for Seminole County since 2001. Prior to that, he worked as a Solo Practitioner at the Law Offices of Mark E. Herr. Herr obtained his bachelor’s degree from Stetson University and his juris doctor from Mercer University.

Judge Donna McIntosh’s recent retirement created a vacancy in the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Court, which Herr will now fill. Governor DeSantis expressed confidence in Herr’s abilities, stating, “Judge Herr’s many years of experience and dedication to upholding the law make him the ideal candidate for this important position.”

These appointments demonstrate Governor DeSantis’ commitment to ensuring a fair and efficient judicial system in Florida. By selecting individuals with extensive legal backgrounds and a strong dedication to justice, the Governor is making strides in maintaining the integrity of the state’s judicial process.

As Florida continues to grow and evolve, the need for qualified and experienced judges becomes increasingly important. Governor DeSantis understands this need and continues to prioritize the appointment of highly qualified individuals to serve on the state’s judicial circuit courts.

The appointments of James Sherman and Mark Herr to the Fifteenth and Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Courts, respectively, are a testament to Governor DeSantis’ dedication to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the fair administration of justice in Florida.
