STARTING RATE: $14.00 – $16.00 (DOQ)
Under the direct supervision of the Utility Billing Supervisor, performs a variety of semi-skilled meter maintenance, reading of routes for billing, and completing service orders created by office staff. Work is assigned verbally, in writing, and through electronic communication devices. Work is reviewed through observation of assigned tasks for accuracy and performance. Applicant must be tobacco free.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency; supplemented by one (1) year of experience in general construction, utilities maintenance or related manual labor work.
(A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Responds to electronic service order requests for utility disconnections, reconnections, high consumption/leak reviews, and other general requests.
- Professionally and courteously interacts with the public in the field in regard to the assigned service order, water meter(s), and recorded water consumption as necessary
- Remove/replace, repair, inspect, and install water meter(s) and/or box/lid(s)s.
- Reads and interprets water meters in assigned routes by utilizing a handheld computing device to electronically record meter readings and ensure the accuracy of this information.
- Conducts water meter tests as requested for high/low consumption and reading accuracy
- Other job functions may be assigned to assist Utility Billing or Public Works Department as needed
