Andrew Kiplagat set a new program record in the men’s 5,000 meters with a time of 14:24.25 at the Legends of Alachua County Invitational in Gainesville, Florida. His performance earned him second place overall and marked his second record-breaking run of the current track season.
The Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) men’s team secured five top-three finishes during the event. The men’s 4 x 400 relay team finished first with a time of 3:15.65. Ashton Matthews placed second in the high jump, clearing 1.94 meters, while Michael Carter took second in the long jump with a mark of 7.32 meters. Farai Mhende achieved third place in the triple jump with a distance of 14.43 meters.
On the women’s side, B-CU athletes recorded two top-three finishes, including a second-place result for Squad A in the women’s 4 x 400 relay and third place for Darryn Hough in the high jump at 1.56 meters.
Other notable performances included Amarrion Grant finishing fourth in the men’s 60 meters with a time of 6.87 seconds and Quiaundra Brown placing fourth in the women’s 60 meters at 7.68 seconds.
