Alabama A&M secured a 49-44 victory over Bethune-Cookman in a women’s basketball game held at the AAMU Event Center in Montgomery, Alabama. The decisive moment came when Coriah Beck hit a three-pointer with 22 seconds left, giving the Bulldogs the lead and ultimately sealing the win.

Bethune-Cookman, now holding a 3-18 overall record and 1-7 in conference play, struggled offensively early in the first quarter, making only one field goal during the opening six minutes. Despite this slow start, Daimoni Dorsey helped spark some offense for the Wildcats with two successful three-point shots. By the end of the first quarter, Bethune-Cookman led 13-7 after forcing eight turnovers from Alabama A&M.

The second quarter saw Bethune-Cookman’s momentum fade as they converted just two of their fourteen shot attempts. Alabama A&M outscored them 19-6 in that period by shooting efficiently from both the field and free-throw line. Janessa Kelly was responsible for all but three of Bethune-Cookman’s points by halftime.

In the third quarter, Bethune-Cookman managed to cut into Alabama A&M’s lead with an early run but trailed by six at its conclusion. Both teams improved their shooting percentages during this period.

The fourth quarter was marked by strong defense on both sides. Bethune-Cookman tied the game with under three minutes remaining despite not making any field goals in that stretch. However, Beck’s late three-pointer for Alabama A&M and a subsequent forced turnover ensured victory for the Bulldogs.

Daimoni Dorsey led Bethune-Cookman with 16 points while Janessa Kelly contributed three three-pointers. For Alabama A&M, Moses Davenport scored a season-high 19 points. Although Bethune-Cookman made nearly 43% of their attempts from beyond the arc, their overall shooting percentage remained below 24%. The game featured a combined total of 51 free-throw attempts between both teams.

Bethune-Cookman’s next matchup will be against Alabama State Hornets on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. EST.
