Freshman pitcher Mia Gonzalez has been named Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Newcomer of the Week for the second consecutive week, according to an announcement from the conference on Apr. 23.
Gonzalez’s recognition marks her third weekly award and is the fourth such honor for Bethune-Cookman University softball this season. The repeated awards highlight both her individual performance and her impact on the team’s success.
During a recent series against Alabama State, Gonzalez pitched in three games, totaling 12 innings. She allowed only two earned runs and recorded two strikeouts across those appearances. Her efforts contributed to victories in two out of three games for Bethune-Cookman.
The Wildcats are scheduled to finish their regular season with a series against Alabama A&M at Sunnyland Park, beginning Friday at 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
