Learn about conservation lands and land management practices during free Explore Volusia programs in New Smyrna Beach this September. Environmental specialists will lead a variety of outdoor adventures and volunteer and learn programs.

Upcoming events include:
- Indian River Lagoon paddle: 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1. Leaving from Mary McLeod Bethune Park, participants may encounter manatees and dolphins while exploring the waters of the Indian River Lagoon. Bring a kayak, canoe or stand-up paddleboard, along with a life preserver and whistle. Meet at 6656 S. Atlantic Ave., New Smyrna Beach.
- Spruce Creek Preserve hike: 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3. Learn about the importance of estuaries and try your hand at seine netting. Fish, bird and plant identification will be the focus of this adventure. Wear closed-toe shoes. Meet at 3251 N. Dixie Highway, New Smyrna Beach.
- Bike-about Spruce Creek Preserve: 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6. Ride a segment of Martin Dairy Trails while learning about the local ecosystem. Moderate skill is preferred due to rough terrain, up and down hills, and soft sand. Bicycle and helmets are required. Meet at the dirt parking lot on Martin Dairy Road, New Smyrna Beach.
