Five-Year Consolidated Plan 2021- 2025: Request for Community Participation

Portorange

City of Port Orange issued the following announcement on Sept. 17.

The City of Port Orange is designated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as an entitlement community that is eligible to receive federal funding through the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG).

To receive the CDBG funds from HUD, the City is required to submit a Five-Year Consolidated Plan and an Annual Action Plan.  The Consolidated Plan establishes the City’s strategic objectives over a five-year period to address housing and community development needs through the HUD funding and other resources.  The Annual Plan discusses the manner in which the City will fund specific projects within the annual allocation period.

These plans will establish how the funds will be used to address the housing and community development needs of the City, including the goals, proposed outcomes, actions, and activities that will contribute to a viable and inclusive community.

HUD has allocated $404,640 for PY 2021-2022 (10/1/2021 through 9/30/2022). This will be year one of the five-year plan. CDBG funds may be used for public facilities and infrastructure projects, public services, affordable housing related projects, and economic development activities. Projects must principally benefit low- to moderate-income persons.

Your participation in this survey enables the City of Port Orange to prioritize the HUD/CDBG funding. The survey can be completed and submitted on-line. Physical copies of the survey can be obtained from the City Clerk’s office, located on the 1st floor of City Hall, 1000 City Center Circle.
