Adult programs on tap at Port Orange library

Volusia

Volusia County issued the following announcement on Sept. 20.

Looking for something to do? Check out the schedule at the Port Orange Regional Library, which is planning a variety of programs for adults in October.

Flu shots: 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6. Walgreens staff will provide flu shots. This is the seasonal flu shot and not the COVID-19 vaccine. Bring your health insurance information and pick up a “health fair in a bag” kit while supplies last. Most insurance plans pay for flu shots.

Book sale: Every day. The Friends of the Port Orange Library sells gently used books, jigsaw puzzles, magazines, audiobooks, records, DVDs and VHS tapes every day during regular library hours. Proceeds are used to fund library programs and purchase supplies.

Halifax Health Outdoor Education Station: 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21. Deborah Korfage-Amborn, community relations coordinator for Halifax Health, will hand out information and answer questions about breast cancer and the Five Wishes Living Will. Five Wishes is an easy-to-use, legal advance directive document that helps adults consider and document how they want to be cared for at the end of life.

Vote for your favorite pumpkin: Oct. 19-31. Get a look at the jack-o-lanterns created by library staff and vote for your favorite.

Attendees must wear face masks and practice social distancing. For more information, call the library at 386-322-5152, option 4.
