Daytona State College Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 21.
Sophomore setter Victoria Zarazel named FCSAA Setter of the Week for the week of September 13-19, 2021.
Zarazel, a native of Orlando Florida, earned the esteemed honor of FCSAA Setter of the Week for her outstanding performance during the Falcon’s last week of play. Zarazel racked up an impressive 100 assists over 3 matches – earning 40 assists in two separate matches against Hillsborough Community College and Santa Fe College. Additionally, Zarazel has accumulated 20 digs and 3 aces to her match stats.
“I could not be prouder of Victoria for earning this honor. She has stepped into a 5-1 role with the injury of our other setter and has done an incredible job stepping into that role. Victoria has a natural ability to connect and lead. Her teammates saw that early on in pre-season which is why she was selected as one of the leaders of our program. Over the last year and a half she has put in the sweat hours to grow her game and it is certainly evident in her game. The honor of Setter of the Week is just the cherry on top!” said Head Coach Laura Booker Anderson of Zarazel.
Zarazel will continue her offensive leadership role as the Falcons take the court this evening to take on Suncoast Conference Opponent, State College of Florida, at home.
