City of Deltona issued the following announcement on Oct. 12.
The Duke Energy Foundation has awarded the City of Deltona a $10,000 grant for the purpose of improving two of the City’s eco-nature parks. The improvements include the addition of four nature viewing stations for park visitors. Two of the viewing stations, or blinds, will be at Audubon Park (located at the corner of Lush Lane and Doyle Road) and the other two will be located at Blue Heron Nature Park (1841 Springwood Lane).

“Duke Energy is proud to support the city of Deltona and its efforts to share Florida’s beautiful natural resources with the communities we serve,” said Duke Energy Florida state president Melissa Seixas. “The nature viewing stations at Audubon Nature Park and Blue Heron Nature Park will provide safe access to observe nature, while also protecting the surrounding environment for future visitors to enjoy.”
The City of Deltona dedicates a major portion of its EcoTourism program to the development of nature viewing parks, and this grant enhances the visitors’ experience, with the first blind scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021. The remaining three blinds will be constructed one per quarter through 2022.
Deltona has multiple eco-tourism parks throughout the City. These include Audubon Park, Blue Heron Nature Park (Phase One), Three Island Nature Park, Lake Butler Recreation Complex and Thornby Park. Two more parks are in development, Big Lake Rookery Nature Park and Phase Two of the Blue Heron Nature Park.
