City of Daytona Beach Shores issued the following announcement on Dec. 14.
Due to a break in a 16-inch water pipe, a precautionary boil water advisory is now in effect for the portion of Daytona Beach Shores that receives its water supply from the City of Daytona Beach.
For the City of Daytona Beach Shores, that includes residential and commercial customers north of Thames Avenue, including residents of condominiums. Thames Avenue intersects South Atlantic Avenue (A1A) at around 2800 S. Atlantic Ave., two blocks north of the north end of the Oceans Golf Course.
The boil water advisory will remain in effect Tuesday and Wednesday or until the bacteriological results come back satisfactory. The break caused a temporary drop in the water pressure; however, the city’s water system is back to normal pressure.
All water used for consumption – drinking and cooking water, making ice, brushing teeth, etc. – should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute. This boil water advisory does not pertain to other water uses.
