The Shores Community Center
The Shores Community Center is a hub of classes and social activities such as card games, exercise, a weekly acoustic music jam, a book club and painting that contribute to an active and healthy lifestyle. See the full calendar.
The Community Center, located at 3000 Bellemead Drive, is open six days a week – 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. The Community Center will be closed Dec. 31, Jan. 1 and Jan. 18 for holidays.

A new Creative Caregiving program will be offered weekly, in six-week sessions, on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. Sessions will be offered Feb. 8 to March 22; April 5 to May 10; and July 12 to Aug. 16.
Registration is now open for this free program, with each session limited to 20 people (10 pairs of caregivers with care partner – CNA/HHA welcome). Call 386-281-3000 to register.
Program description: Caregiving for a loved one is a journey of joy and difficulty. Come learn how to connect mind, body and spirit by using the arts as a tool of self-care, social interaction, and lifelong learning. Join Atlantic Center for the Arts ambassador Sonja Jean Craig for a fun, uplifting gathering of caregivers and care partners. Craig welcomes those who wish to understand how creativity can benefit life on a daily basis. No experience necessary, and art supplies will be provided.

Pickleball & Tennis
Pickleball Open Play is available daily 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at McElroy Park. All ages and skill levels are welcome, and equipment is available for loan at the Shores Community Center.
A FREE Intro to Pickleball class with certified pickleball instructor Sinny Richardson is offered Mondays at 8:30 a.m. Classes are limited to six students, and registration is required no later than the Friday prior by calling 386-281-3000. Equipment is provided.
The tennis courts, adjacent to the Shores Community Center, are open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Court 6 offers open play except from 9:30-11 a.m. daily. Courts 1-5 offer open play from 12:30-10 p.m. daily. Court reservations are offered to Shores residents only: Courts 1- 5, 8-9:30 a.m.; 9:30-11 a.m.; 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and Court 6, 9:30-11 a.m.
Tennis Round Robin is offered on Sundays from 8-11 a.m. on Courts 1-5.
Enjoy our Parks
The Shores has a dozen manicured parks – from the ocean to the river – including a lighted tennis facility with six clay tennis courts, 10 lighted pickleball courts, a dog park, bocce ball, shuffleboard and several playgrounds. There are 5+ miles of beach and the Sunglow Pier to enjoy for recreation, as well.
McElroy Park, home of pickleball, bocce and shuffleboard, has a walking track for exercise, as well as outdoor exercise stations and a basketball court.
Pavilions can be reserved for picnics and parties on the park rentals website. Two other beachfront parks, which are owned by Volusia County, will open in early 2022.
Special Events
Special events are offered year-round in Daytona Beach Shores, including free concerts, food trucks, Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting, Armed Forces Day ceremony, business expo and Community Appreciation Cookout. View upcoming special events on the online calendar.

- Saturday, Jan. 8 – Better Life Business Expo, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Shores Community Center. Features local businesses. FREE
- Saturday, Jan. 29 – the Rotary Club of Port Orange – South Daytona will present a tribute to Chicago, featuring the Orlando Transit Authority band, 6 p.m. reception; 7:30 p.m. concert. Tickets: $47.50 available at the Mount Dora Live website.
- Saturday, Feb. 12 – Casino Night with a ‘60s theme, 6 to 9 p.m. at the Shores Community Center. Tickets are $50, includes casino play (Blackjack, Roulette, Craps & Poker), heavy hors d'oeuvres & bar. Must be purchased in advance through the online calendar.
- Friday, Feb. 25 – Food Truck Event and Free Concert featuring Daniel “Saxman” Fuqua, 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Shores Pavilion and McElroy Park. FREE
- Friday, March 25 – Free Concert featuring Marc Monteson with Linda Cole, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Shores Pavilion and McElroy Park. FREE
