Budget workshop, Canal Street parking, zone redistricting, more on March 22 City Commission agendas

City of New Smyrna Beach recently issued the following announcement.

The City Commission will host a budget workshop at 5 p.m. and regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22 in the James W. Hathaway Chambers at 214 Sams Ave.

During the budget workshop, commissioners will hear presentations by Development Services Director Derek Burr and Airport Manager Adam Lo Bianco on their respective departments’ performance, strategic issues, funding requests, and more.

Following a brief adjournment at 6 p.m., commissioners will convene a regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. to consider the following items:

  • Presentation of proposed streetscape designs for Washington Street
  • Proclaiming March 25, 2022 to be New Smyrna Beach Rotary Club Day and April 2022 to be Fair Housing Month in the City of New Smyrna Beach
  • Special event approval for a Roaring 20’s Gala on May 14 at New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport in celebration of the Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce’s 90th anniversary
  • Public hearing of an ordinance waiving on-site parking requirements for businesses that require 20 spaces or less within the Canal Street Arts Overlay District
  • Quasi-judicial public hearing of an ordinance reapportioning and redefining the boundaries of the city’s four commission zones
  • Plus 13 more action-packed agenda items!
