Golf Club fees, one-way Orange Avenue, Ocean Village parking lot, and more on May 24 CC agendas

The City Commission will host a budget workshop at 5 p.m. and regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24 in the James W. Hathaway Chambers at 214 Sams Ave.

During the budget workshop, commissioners will hear presentations by Economic Development and Information Technology staff on their respective departments’ performance, strategic issues, funding requests, and more.

Following a brief adjournment at 6 p.m., commissioners will convene the regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. to consider the following items:

  • Proclamations honoring the 90th anniversary of the Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce and designating May as Historic Preservation Month
  • New membership rates at New Smyrna Golf Club, currently the lowest in the local area and unchanged for the past 13 years
  • Special event request from Beachside Tavern for their Bike & Bar Summer Reggae Party on June 18
  • Discussion on how to allocate nearly $14 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding from the federal government
  • Discussion on making Orange Avenue, the scene of seven auto accidents this year, one-way northbound from Washington Street to Mary Avenue
  • Public hearing of an appeal to build a 110-space parking lot on outparcels of Ocean Village Shopping Center along South Atlantic Avenue following its denial by the Planning & Zoning Board
  • Plus 23 other action-packed agenda items!
