Section of Orange Street transitioning to one-way starting June 21

44

Orange Street from Washington Street to Mary Avenue will be designated one-way northbound starting June 21.

City commissioners unanimously approved the move on May 24 as part of a broader streetscape project planned along Washington Street following positive feedback from local business owners and safety concerns raised by City Manager Khalid Resheidat.

"My recommendation is to move forward and make this happen now," said Resheidat. "Why wait until the end of the project [to] make the intersection more safe?"

"I agree 100%," replied Vice Mayor & Zone 3 Commissioner Jason McGuirk. "It's seven accidents already this year. It's always been a problem. Hopefully this goes a long way to solving that."

An electronic message board displaying "Orange St. to Mary Ave. will be ONE WAY June 21st" has been placed near the intersection of Orange & Washington Street to notify motorists of the upcoming change.
