Chris Conomos Selected to Fill Vacancy on Shores City Council

Chris

The Daytona Beach Shores City Council has selected attorney Chris Conomos to fill the City Council seat being vacated by Richard Frizalone, who is moving outside the Daytona Beach Shores city limits. Conomos was sworn in at Tuesday’s Council meeting.

Conomos was the only candidate to qualify to run for City Council Seat 1 in this year’s municipal election and, therefore, was elected without opposition.

With his selection to fill the remainder of Frizalone’s term, Conomos took office four months earlier than expected. His term runs through November 2026.

“I can’t say enough good things about (Conomos),” Frizalone said. “I think he’s going to do a marvelous job.”

Conomos, a Shores resident since August 2018, is a Central Florida native with strong ties to Volusia County for more than 30 years. His childhood of weekends and summers in New Smyrna Beach fostered a love of surf, sand and small towns.

An assistant public defender and Army National Guard veteran, Conomos proudly served in Florida's Army National Guard for six years as an infantryman and rifle team leader.

Conomos earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Central Florida. He attended Valencia Community College and UCF for his undergraduate degree in political science and also studied government policies, public safety and infrastructure.

He has served as a school volunteer and role model for JROTC students. He is married to Stacy Pope Conomos and is a father and grandfather.
