Storm debris collection in Port Orange begins Friday, October 7

We will begin storm debris collection with the debris hauler, Crowder Gulf Disaster Recovery & Debris Management, on Friday, October 7. The schedules and locations will be posted as they become available.

PLEASE NOTE: A separate truck will be used to collect each type of debris as follows:

•    Construction debris (drywall, carpet, wood, furniture, etc.)

•    White goods (appliances such as stoves, washing machines, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers)

•    Yard Waste (vegetative)

**For example, if a truck goes by your neighbor’s house and picks up their construction debris and they pass by your house with yard waste, another truck will come by to pick up your yard waste.

Residents should bring storm debris to the public right of way, the area that extends from the street to the sidewalk, utility pole, or easement. Residents should not place debris in the road; this obstructs traffic, hinders cleanup and power restoration efforts, and makes it difficult for emergency vehicles to pass. Keep debris away from drainage ditches, inlets, mailboxes, and power lines. Do not cover storm drains and never block fire hydrants.

Residents must sort debris into separate piles for vegetative debris (leaves, branches, and cut trees), construction and demolition debris (building materials, carpet, furniture, fences, drywall), and appliances and white goods (refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, stoves). Do not place vegetative debris in plastic yard waste bags. If you have a small amount of yard debris, normal collection rules will apply. Debris piles that are mixed will not be collected.

DO NOT BAG YOUR STORM DEBRIS.  The hauler will not take bags.

Electronics and household hazardous waste will not be collected by the storm debris contractor.

Individuals who hire a contractor to handle large tree debris or household damage must make sure the contractor is licensed and insured.
