Residents, agencies and municipalities may sign up to receive updates and provide input regarding Volusia County’s planning and development for the $328.9 million Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

HUD has notified Volusia County and other grantees of their allocation but has yet to publish the specifics of how the funding may be used in the Federal Register. The overarching premise of the CDBG-DR program dictates that the funds must be used for disaster relief, long-term recovery, restoration of infrastructure and housing, economic revitalization and mitigation in the most impacted and distressed areas, focusing on low and moderate-income populations.

Public participation is strongly encouraged and will be conducted through several means, such as holding public meetings, soliciting comments and input, and publishing a draft of an action plan for review and feedback.

The initial steps in receiving the funds from HUD will be to analyze the community’s needs and develop an action plan. In preparation for the analysis and community participation process, interested residents, agencies and municipalities may submit their contact information and a brief description of a potential project based on information known at this time.

To sign up to receive updates and provide input, visit volusia.org or access the form directly at https://bit.ly/3TA9PVS.
