TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Ivan Chavez, Kristen “Rhea” Goff, and Heather Turnbull and the reappointment of John Davis and Sherry Wheelock to the Florida Commission on Community Service, also known as Volunteer Florida.
Ivan Chavez, a Firefighter and Paramedic for Miami Beach Fire Rescue and a Commissioner for the City of West Miami, expressed his dedication to community service by stating, "I am honored to be appointed to the Florida Commission on Community Service and look forward to serving our state."
Kristen “Rhea” Goff, Chief Administrative Officer and Senior Vice President of the St. Joe Company, shared her enthusiasm for the appointment by saying, "I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to Volunteer Florida and continue supporting our communities."
Heather Turnbull, Managing Partner at Rubin, Turnbull & Associates, highlighted her commitment to public service, stating, "I am excited to join the Florida Commission on Community Service and work towards enhancing volunteer efforts across the state."
John Davis, Secretary of the Florida Lottery, expressed his gratitude for the reappointment, saying, "I am thankful for the opportunity to continue serving on the Commission and further promote community engagement in Florida."
Sherry Wheelock, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Special Olympics of Florida, emphasized the importance of community involvement by stating, "I am honored to be reappointed and remain dedicated to supporting the mission of Volunteer Florida."
These appointments and reappointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
