Governor DeSantis appoints seven members to Florida Council on Arts & Culture

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Ashley Gibson Barnett, Lauren Sarah Carpenter, Sofia Diaz, and Beverly Frank to the Florida Council on Arts and Culture. Additionally, Lisa Burgess, Carroll Hanley Goggin, and Frank Gromling have been reappointed to the council.

Ashley Gibson Barnett is the owner of Barnett Creative, LLC. She serves on various boards including the Florida Southern College Board of Advisors and the Polk Museum of Art. Gibson Barnett holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Florida Southern College and both a master’s degree in law and a juris doctor from Emory University.

Lauren Sarah Carpenter is the co-founder and executive director of Salome Chamber Orchestra Inc., as well as the co-founder and chief operating officer of Carpenter Fine Violins and Collectables, LLC. She has received accolades such as the Mary Lemon Award from the Manhattan School of Music. Carpenter earned her bachelor’s degree in politics from Princeton University.

Sofia Diaz works as a client services analyst at Bank of New York Mellon. Her previous roles include market research analyst and social media manager for ONE Sotheby’s International Realty. Diaz earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami.

Beverly Frank is principal and architect at BFRANK Studios, LLC. She has served as president of the Florida American Institute of Architects and was involved with the University of South Florida School of Architecture's Dean of Libraries Advisory Board. Frank holds both a bachelor’s degree in art education and a master’s degree in architecture from the University of South Florida.

Lisa Burgess is founder of Burgess Modern + Contemporary and president of New River Fine Art, Inc. She is an active member within her community through organizations like Nova Southeastern University's Museum Director's Circle. Burgess earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Southern Methodist University.

Carroll Hanley Goggin serves as CEO and COO of DBG Promotions. She chairs several committees including Winter Park Chamber Commerce and Rollins College Campaign Committee while also being part of Rollins College Board Trustees . Hanley Goggin obtained her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Rollins College.

Frank Gromling owns Ocean Art Gallery where he acts as director too; previously serving Town Commissioner Flagler Beach veteran United States Air Force . He earned his bachelor's degrees history education Rhode Island College master's international relations national security studies George Washington University .
