Volusia County’s public transit system drove off with several statewide awards following the Florida Public Transportation Association’s (FPTA) annual conference in Naples last month.

Votran received the 2022 Bus Safety Excellence, Gold Safety Award. The agency also won the Marketing Award for a signage campaign focused on Votran providing a low-cost transportation option for riders.

Davidson Abraham, a bus operator with Votran for 23 years, earned third place for Bus Operator of the Year. In years past, Abraham has received other awards such as the National Safety Council regional award and the Votran Above and Beyond award.

The FPTA ran concurrently with the Commission for Transportation Disadvantaged Conference, where Votran was honored with the Safety Award for its new training and retraining program.

Votran is no stranger to awards, having won dozens of FPTA awards for marketing, safety and service over the years.
