Daytona State College Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 11.
The Daytona State Men's Cross Country team finished sixth out of 12 teams that included host school University of Florida and strong NCAA Division 2 teams from across the
state. The Falcons were hoping to break into the top three, but came up just 26 points shy, just behind the tight battle for third between St Leo (106 pts), Embry Riddle (107 pts),
and Stetson (108 pts). The Falcons scored 132 points, placing them first among all other NJCAA teams. The Falcons were led by sophomore runner Andy Martinez, 21st with a
19:23 for the 6000 meter distance. The Falcon Freshmen trio of Sebastian Hernandez, Christian Ruocco, and Mitchell Curtis finished within 45 seconds of each other, giving the
Falcons a potential tight pack come October. The Falcons will need some help from the rest of the squad if they are to stand on that elusive podium at the NJCAA Championships
on November 13th in Mechanicsburg, VA, after placing fourth in the 2020 Championship race.
