Wildcats Return To The Den

7

Bethune-Cookman University issued the following announcement on July 26.

Bethune-Cookman University is making plans to roar back to life in the Fall Semester of 2021. Wildcats are tough, and we demonstrated that toughness throughout this past year. With the deployment of the vaccinations across the United States, we are optimistic that our campus will come teeming back to life.

Our commitment to the safety of our students, faculty and staff was abundantly evident in 2020-2021 and will continue as we plan for a successful fall semester. We have all been through a great ordeal, but in true B-CU fashion have risen to the challenge to overcome and conquer. Based on data from the CDC and distribution levels of the vaccines, we are optimistic that the pandemic will be much more under control by August 2021. Please understand that we cannot make any promises, things could change, but at this time, our plan is to be able to roll back some of the Covid-19 health restrictions and return to some normalcy campus wide.

ACADEMICS

Beginning in the fall semester of 2021, we will return to full capacity, in-person classes.  Online classes will be offered as they were pre-COVID-19.  The classroom environment will be adjusted to take into account reasonable distancing, consistent with the updated CDC guidelines. Masks are required in this setting.

SPORTS/ATHLETICS

We anticipate that our Intercollegiate sports program will resume and will allow for fan attendance. We will also resume all intramural activities.

STUDENT LIFE

Special events, club get-togethers and informal gatherings will be able to resume, but everyone is cautioned to take personal responsibility. Masks/face-coverings will more than likely still be required.

HUMAN RESOURCES

All faculty and staff, who had been approved for remote working for high risk factors, will be required to return to face to face on campus beginning July 1, 2021.

VISITORS/GUESTS

We will return to pre Covid-19 visitor/guest policies. Visitors are required to check-in to Campus Safety and follow the university mask mandate.

RESIDENCE HALLS

We will return to pre Covid-19 residence hall capacity.  The mandatory curfew will be lifted.

GENERAL CAMPUS CONDITIONS

Vaccinations: It is encouraged that all students, faculty and staff participate in the vaccine program prior to arrival on campus.  A vaccination clinic will be held on campus and open to ALL including the community, Friday, August 27th, from 8:30AM – 3:00PM.  Sign-Up here.

Vaccinations are also being provided by CVS, Walgreens and the Health Department.  Everyone is strongly encouraged to get vaccinated before returning to campus.

We will closely monitor CDC data to make public-safety decisions that will help to keep our campus safe and open. These decisions may include some or all of the following:

Mandatory testing of all faculty, staff and students as warranted

Face masks are required in all spaces/gatherings of more than 10 people

Isolation/Quarantine: B-CU will continue to provide isolation/quarantine services as needed and will participate in contact tracing if such a situation arises.

Please note, these anticipated adjustments are subject to change, and we ask for your patience and understanding.

Again, we look forward to seeing you, and look forward to Wildcat pride surging back through our campus. We are and will continue to be, WILDCAT STRONG!
