Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University issued the following announcement on Oct. 26.

The fall half of the 2021-22 Embry-Riddle women's golf schedule came to a conclusion on Tuesday as the Eagles wrapped up play at the Flagler Fall Slam at Marsh Creek Country Club. The par-72, 6,062-yard course saw some of the Eagles' best golf of the semester with ERAU shooting a 311 on Tuesday for a two-day, two-round total of 627 (316-311). Mackenzie Dieter fired a 149 (73-76), finishing in a tied for third overall, the best 36-hole score of her collegiate career, and finishing in a tie for fourth, just one stroke behind a trio of golfers who all finished with a 148.

The Eagles finished sixth as a team, their highest finish at the 18-team event since 2009. ERAU was just four strokes back of host Flagler (623), and beat out 11 other NCAA II squads. Limestone won the tournament with a 6-1, followed by Anderson (604), Lenoir-Rhyne (607), Seminole State (608), and Flagler (523).

Dieter tallied a pair of birdies on Tuesday, both on the front nine for her 76 on the day, while Millie Lawson matched her teammate with a 76, shaving five strokes off her first-round score and finishing the tournament with a 157 (81-76). Dieter's 4.00 scoring average on Par 4's for the tournament was the best in the field.

Marybeth McGuire's 159 (81-78) for the tournament was third on the Eagles, followed by Reni Jancsik's 165 (84-81) to complete the Eagle scoring. Paula Valdivia also competed for the Blue and Gold, shooting a 169 (81-88), with Brigitte Clements firing a 166 (81-85) as an individual.

"Super gritty performance from the team today," Head Coach Maria Lopez said. "It was great to compete against some the best teams in the south region at this tournament and I am super proud of our preparation and resiliency. The wind blew and the team dug in today; Oceanside Country Club and Plantation Bay prepared us perfectly for the precision that was needed. It's a good feeling to close the fall part of our season and prepare for the spring."

The Eagles will return to the course in February when they also wil return to St. Augustine for the World Golf Invitational on Feb. 7-8, hosted by Flagler.
