ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.—Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Florida has reached the milestone of nearly 5,000 bonuses awarded through the Florida Law Enforcement Recruitment Bonus Program. The program, which aims to incentivize individuals to join the law enforcement profession and attract officers from other states to relocate to Florida, has successfully drawn in 1,267 law enforcement recruits from 49 states and U.S. territories, including 400 from states known for being anti-police like Illinois, California, and New York.
“Florida’s investments in law enforcement recruitment are investments in the safety of our communities,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. He emphasized the state's commitment to being a law-and-order state and its dedication to attracting top law enforcement officers to serve and protect Floridians.
“Under Governor Ron DeSantis’ leadership, nearly 5,000 people from across the nation have chosen to become a law enforcement officer in our great state,” highlighted Florida Commerce Secretary J. Alex Kelly. He expressed pride in the significant number of individuals who have selected Florida as their destination to pursue a career in law enforcement, citing the state's unwavering support for law enforcement professionals in ensuring community and family safety.
