TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Today, Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed four individuals to the Town of McIntosh Council. Eva Callahan, William "Lee" Deaderick, Donald Medeiros, and Richard Talbert have been selected to serve in this capacity.
Callahan, a retired individual who previously worked in the Florida Department of Health’s Administration and Medical Records Office, brings a wealth of experience to the council. She has been a resident of the Town of McIntosh for over 20 years and has served as a member of the council for over 17 years. Callahan is also the Treasurer of the McIntosh Garden Club.
Deaderick, the Owner of Northwest Seafood, Inc., is known for his active community involvement. Apart from his business endeavors, he is a member of the Micanopy Area Cooperative School Board of Directors. Deaderick holds a bachelor's degree in food science from the University of Florida and has prior experience as a member of the Town of McIntosh Council.
Medeiros, another appointee, is a retired Professor and Cross Country Coach from the University of South Alabama. A veteran of the United States Army, Medeiros holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Santa Clara and a doctorate in philosophy from Arizona State University.
Talbert, the fourth appointee, currently works as a Senior Consultant for J. Angle Group, LLC, and is a part-time Instructor at the Florida State Fire College. He is actively involved in his community, serving as the Secretary of the City of Ocala Fire Museum Advisory Board and as a member of the McIntosh Lions Club. Talbert's contributions have been recognized, as he was awarded the title of "Florida Fire Chief of the Year" by the Florida Cabinet in 2009. He earned his associate degree from Eastern Florida State College.
The newly appointed members are expected to bring their diverse backgrounds and experiences to the Town of McIntosh Council, contributing to the betterment of the community.
